The Up with Down Family Support Group is based in Des Moines, Iowa and serves over 190 families in central Iowa.

Up with Down supports families through personal contact and education, and provides a forum to express feelings and work through some of the difficulties that may arise in raising a child with Down syndrome.

The group meets regularly for informal social gatherings, as well as educational meetings. Up with Down provides local hospitals with New Parent Packets and, upon their request, personally visits new parents or contacts them by phone. The group also supplies local libraries with updated books on topics related to Down syndrome and provides area schools with information about inclusion and acceptance.

Up With Down's premier event of the year is the Central Iowa Buddy Walk, held in late August or September. The event attracts more than 1,000 participants and celebrates our family and friends with Down syndrome while raising money to support our education and advocacy programs.

Up with Down is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization affiliated with the National Down Syndrome Society, guided by a board of volunteers, and supported through fundraisers, member dues and donations.
